127-Year-Old Firehouse Destroyed By Massive Fire In DC
All hands were on deck overnight as crews from throughout the area were called in to help battle a massive two-alarm fire that took down part of a DC firehouse that has stood since the 1800s. Fire crews had their hands full on Friday night as flames tore through the former firehouse, which was under renovation in the 1600 block of North Capitol Street. A Bergen County steakhouse is moving across the street. Allendale Steakhouse, which opened in 2014, is currently renovating the Bank of America on Allendale Avenue and Maple Street. Little update on the progress of the new location so far. Firefighters Douse Overnight Closter Blaze
Closter firefighters doused an overnight house blaze. They were met by heavy fire coming from the attack of the 2½ -story wood-frame home on Jason Woods Road, just off Homans Avenue, shortly before 2 a.m. Monday. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Demarest. All fire companies were released shortly after 4 a.m. No injuries were reported. Fire officials were trying to determine the cause.
