Carmel School District Names New Superintendent
The Carmel Central School District has tabbed a veteran upstate New York educator to take over as its new Superintendent of Schools. Carmel Schools Superintendent Resigns
The superintendent at one of the area's largest public school districts is stepping down before the new academic year begins after just five years at the helm of the district. Carmel Schools Superintendent Andy Irvin announced this week that he will be resigning from his position as superintendent after informing the school board of his decision at the end of last week. $25.5M Carmel School Bond Proposal Voted Down
For the second time in less than a year, Carmel taxpayers defeated a school renovation bond plan, this time worth $25.5 million.Tuesday night's unofficial results were 1,334 votes against the bond issue and 1,192 Carmel residents for it. Carmel School Superintendent Andy Irvin has said the roofs at all five schools are more than 30 years old and need to be replaced. He also said there was a flood at the high school this summer.
