Airsoft Gun Mistaken For Rifle At NJ Walmart: Mansfield Police
A report of a person armed with a rifle in the parking lot at Walmart in Hackettstown led to a police response on Thursday, July 10, but it was all a false alarm, authorities said. Officers responded to the Walmart at 1885 Route 57, but determined the rifle was an airsoft gun being transported in a vehicle, Mansfield Township police said. The item was not carried outside of the vehicle and there is no threat to the public regarding the incident, police said.

A Glen Rock teenager was shot at with an airsoft gun near the Glen Rock High School football field following a dispute, police said. Livingston School in Union was briefly in lockdown Monday after police received a report of a student with a gun, the department said in a statement. The 9-year-old brought the Airsoft-style gun to show his friends, police said. The gun was "inoperable," police also said. Officers responded and determined there was no threat.
