An 81-year-old woman was gardening at her New Hampshire vacation home when she was struck by a falling tree, delivering head contusions and killing her, officials say. Phyllis Mary Carifio, of Revere, died on Saturday, April 29 while cutting a tree that had sagged over the winter in her Ossippee, New Hampshire vacation home, according to the Ossipee Police Department. One student was hospitalized and multiple students nauseated because of a strange odor reported at a Pentucket middle school in West Newbury. Seventh-grade students in a third-floor science lab reported a strange odor around 10:00 a.m. at Pentucket Middle School on Monday, May 1, according to the public relations team for fire and school districts. A suspect was arrested in Western Massachusetts following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle. Shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, police in Hampshire County received an alert that Holyoke Police in Hampden County and Massachusetts State Police were involved in a pursuit with a stolen vehicle driven by a suspect accused of breaking and entering, according to the Hadley Police Department. A Western Mass man died after his kayak overturned in an area pond. John Reynolds, age 58, of the Town of Richmond in Berkshire County, died Thursday, Dec. 9 at Berkshire Medical Center after his kayak overturned in Richmond Pond. 19: Mall In Western Mass Hosting Vaccine Clinic
A Western Mass mall will host a pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic in an effort to help more people receive the vaccine. The Holyoke Mall will hold the clinic from noon to 30 p.m. on Saturday, May 8 for anyone over the age of 18 years old, said mall officials. The Moderna vaccine will be used.
