1.2M+ Ford F-150s Under Investigation For Dangerous Highway Downshifts: Nhtsa Federal safety officials have opened an investigation into nearly 1.3 million Ford F-150 pickup trucks after drivers reported sudden downshifts at highway speeds that, in some cases, caused the rear wheels to lock up. An estimated 1,270,970 Ford F-150 pickups are potentially involved in the issue, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The probe comes after 138 drivers reported that their trucks unexpectedly downshifted into a lower gear while traveling at high speeds.
