Toms River Gulf War Vet Killed In Parkway Crash: Njsp A 57-year-old veteran of the Gulf War was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway Thursday, Sept. 10, authorities said. At 4:45 p.m., troopers responded to the Garden State Parkway south in Tinton Falls after a Nissan SUV driven by Mark Edgell struck a guardrail, ran off the road to the left and struck a tree, Christopher Postorino, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Edgell was pronounced dead at the scene, Postorino said.  Edgell is being remembered for his sense of humor and stubborn nature, according to his obituary from the O'Brien Funeral Home website. At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the Black Horse Pike and Noahs Road in Pleasantville after a 6-year-old entered the roadway and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Pleasantville man, Pleasantville police said. Manchester Man Killed In Route 79 Marlboro Crash: Prosecutor An 80-year-old Manchester man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Marlboro Township on Friday, Sept. 11, authorities said. At 11:45 a.m., Marlboro police responded to Route 79 and Blossom Avenue after a 2002 Toyota Camry Solara driven by an 80-year-old man entered the opposite lane of travel and collided with a 2022 Ford F350 driven by a 52-year-old Port Monmouth man, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. The driver of the Solara was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, authorities said. The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
