A high-speed police chase that began on Route 9W early Friday morning, April 25, ended in tragedy when the fleeing vehicle crashed along Interstate 84 in Orange County, killing a 25-year-old passenger and injuring the driver, authorities confirmed.
The incident began around 3:43 a.m. on Friday, when troopers tried to stop a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck for vehicle and traffic violations on Route 9W in Newburgh, New York State Police announced.

Driver, 44, Airlifted When Vehicle Overturns On Route 78: Njsp
A 44-year-old Cranford man was airlifted to a nearby hospital after his vehicle overturned on Route 78 in Hunterdon County on the evening of Sunday, April 28, authorities said.
At 7:07 p.m., a GMC SUV was traveling eastbound on Route 78 in Union Township when the driver lost control, ran off the roadway and overturned, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.
The man sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Lanes are blocked after a multi-vehicle crash in Olney trapped one person in a vehicle, authorities say.
The collision occurred around 3 p.m., Monday, March 20 in the area of Evangeline Lane and Hines Road, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials.
