An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Mount Olive Boy Loses Both Parents At 11 Years Old Gavin Cianci, an 11-year-old Mount Olive boy, recently lost his father Chris, leaving him orphaned. Now the community is coming together to help. Gavin's mother died a year ago, also unexpectedly, according to a GoFundMe set up to support him. He is currently living with his grandmother. The GoFundMe will go toward helping to support Gavin and his grandmother as  they navigate the road ahead.  Gavin, a diehard Rangers and Bengals fan, will be starting middle school in the fall and plays travel baseball. Camden Man Fatally Stabbed, Collapsed Outside Hospital Parking Garage: Prosecutor A 28-year-old Camden man was killed in a stabbing in Camden early Saturday, Aug. 1, authorities said. At 2:53 a.m., Camden County police responded to Cooper University Hospital after Davinne Evans walked to the medical center and collapsed outside a parking garage, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said. Evans was soon pronounced dead, authorities said. Officers determined he was stabbed at Broadway and Stevens Street, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

Man Shot, Killed In Camden: Prosecutor A man was shot and killed in Camden, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 3. At 9:50 p.m., on Friday, July 31, Camden police responded to the 100 block of North 24th Street and found Edgar Velasco-Hernandez with a gunshot wound, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said.  He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

Man Killed In Trenton Double Shooting A 32-year-old man was killed in a double shooting in Trenton, Sunday, Aug. 2, authorities said. At 3:30 a.m., Trenton police responded to the 300 block of East State Street and found the man shot in the neck, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said. He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. He has not been publicly identified. At 8:58 p.m., officers responded to the Black Horse Pike and Fire Road after an 80-year-old Williamstown man driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound struck a pedestrian, a Mays Landing man, improperly crossing the street, Egg Harbor Township police said.
