Police have ramped up patrols after a series of car break-ins in the Hudson Valley over the weekend. The incidents occurred in the Airmont area during the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, said Det. Sgt. Michael Higgins with the Ramapo Police. A Delaware County police department with a severe staffing shortage will soon receive help from state police troopers, the Pennsylvania State Police said. Troopers will be providing overnight patrol and investigatory coverage for Collingdale Borough beginning Thursday, Oct. 31, according to a news release. NJ Transit Police Rescue Dog Struck By Light Rail
New Jersey Transit officers rushed to the aid of a dog pinned under the Newark Light Rail last week. Patrol, K9 and ESU officers found the injured dog under the train on Friday. All worked together to remove the cold and injured dog without further trauma. They stabilized the canine and rushed it to an appropriately suited K9 vehicle for its transport to an animal hospital. Meet 'Spar': New K-9 Officer Joins Yorktown Police Force
The Yorktown Police Department welcomed its newest four-legged officer to the force this week, Spar, a trained German Shepard police dog, joining fellow K9 Dallas, to form the Yorktown Police Canine Unit. Spar’s duties will include drug detection and patrol, while Dallas is trained primarily for the task of drug detection.
