Several Hackensack police vehicles were damaged in a suspicious fire at an overflow parking lot on Saturday night, Aug. 30, authorities said. The fire broke out around 8:09 p.m. at 78 Trinity Pl., Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer said. Following fire suppression efforts, the Hackensack Police Department and Hackensack Fire Department notified the Prosecutor's Office Arson Squad that the blaze “appeared to be suspicious in nature,” Angermeyer said. Two people were found dead inside a Fort Lee home on Wednesday morning, June 25, authorities said. Officers with the Fort Lee Police Department were called to a private residence on 14th Street around 11:37 a.m. to perform a welfare check, according to Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. UPDATE: A Paramus man who’d just stabbed his father to death dragged the body to a bathroom and tried to set it on fire last week as part of an attempt to conceal what he’d done, authorities said. Melvin Thomas repeatedly stabbed his father, 61-year-old Manuel Thomas, in the chest with a kitchen knife on Valentine’s Day, a criminal complaint says.
