Murphy Signs Laws To Investigate Why NJ Electric Bills Are So High
As New Jersey families brace for higher energy costs, Gov. Phil Murphy has signed two new laws aimed at holding regional grid operator PJM Interconnection accountable for what officials call opaque practices that have driven up electricity prices. The new laws — AJR216/SJR154 and A5463/S4363 — direct the state Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to investigate whether PJM’s pricing system is helping customers by ensuring reliable resources at the lowest possible cost. The BPU will report back to the Governor and the Legislature within one year. “These bills complement our long-term plan …

NJ Residents To Get $100 Back On Electric Bills — Here’s When You’ll See It
Shocking electric bills have New Jersey families sweating — but help is on the way. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) voted Wednesday, Aug. 13, to give every residential customer a total of $100 in bill credits this fall. The Residential Universal Bill Credit (RUBC) program will knock $50 off September bills and another $50 off October bills, the board said. The analysis included whether states have water reuse rules, how many environmental charities they support, and how vulnerable they are to climate shifts like record-breaking heat. "The US produces over 292 million tons of waste per…

$14B+ In Projects, 10K Jobs Scrapped As Clean Energy Faces Trump, GOP Headwinds: Study
More than $14 billion in projects and 10,000 jobs have been canceled or delayed in 2025 as President Donald Trump's massive spending bill threatens the future of clean energy development in the US. The economic toll jumped sharply when $4.5 billion in planned battery, electric, and wind projects were scrapped in April, according to the nonpartisan group E2. The analysis released on Thursday, May 29, comes as the Senate awaits a vote on the so-called "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," a tax-and-spending plan that would eliminate key clean energy incentives. The bill passed by House Republicans&nb…

Trump Reverses $5B NY Wind Halt After $50M Weekly Loss, Whale Claims Debunked
The Trump administration has reversed its highly controversial stop-work order on the Empire Wind 1 project, allowing construction of New York’s largest offshore wind farm to resume, officials announced Monday, May 19. The $5 billion project, spearheaded by Norwegian energy giant Equinor, had already completed more than 30 percent of construction — including seabed foundations and a Brooklyn terminal — when Interior Secretary Doug Burgum halted work on April 16, citing "flawed science." That claim, echoed in a Fox News report and Burgum’s social media post, was not supported by any released…
