High Driver Crushed Postal Worker Against Mail Truck In Freeport, DA Says
A Long Island man faces felony charges after allegedly crashing into a US postal worker while impaired, leaving the employee with life-threatening injuries.
Jeffrey Butt, 45, of Freeport, was arraigned in Nassau County Court Thursday, Jan. 29, on vehicular assault and related charges stemming from an October 2025 crash in Freeport.
The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 10, in front of a post office location along Merrick Road, according to the Nassau County DA’s office. A 50-year-old postal worker was loading mail into his delivery truck on the shoulder of the roadway.

A 25-year-old Salem County man was recently sentenced to more than 9 years in prison after he robbed two postal workers while committing bank fraud, authorities said.
From May 2018 through February 2020, Dezhon McCrae, a Penns Grove resident, was part of a scheme to obtain stolen checks from the mail and then use the checks to create counterfeit checks with the same routing and account numbers for deposit into area banks, U.S. Attorney John Giordano said, following his sentencing in Camden federal court.

Four Newark Men Robbed Postal Worker At Gunpoint: Feds
Four Newark men were arrested and charged on Thursday, Aug. 1 with robbing a postal worker at gunpoint last November, authorities said.
Last November, three people, including Troy Corbett, 28, and Dyshawn Williams, 28 stole the victim's cell phone, keys and wallet, containing a credit card and debit card, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said. The robbery is a federal crime, since it impeded the postal worker from delivering mail, interfering with interstate commerce, Sellinger said.
