Indian Point Siren 'Full Volume Test' To Sound In Cortlandt
A full-volume test of the Indian Point sirens has been scheduled in the Hudson Valley and will be no cause for alarm. The test of the Indian Point Energy Center siren system will be held on Wednesday, March 15 between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., according to the Peekskill Police Department. The drill will test sirens throughout the 10-mile emergency planning zone surrounding Indian Point, which is located in Buchanan in the town of Cortlandt. Although it sounded like a real emergency, the alarms that could be heard at a reservoir in Westchester County were only part of a routine drill. On Friday, Oct. 21, at around 10 a.m., the New York City Department of Environmental Protection conducted an annual full-scale exercise in Yonkers at the Hillview Reservoir, city officials announced in a tweet. Emergency Drill Planned At Train Station In Glen Rock Saturday
NJ Transit will conduct an emergency drill Saturday at the Main Line train station in Glen Rock, police said. Several train cars will be used in the drill. NJ Transit personnel as well as police, fire and ambulance squads from Glen Rock and surrounding towns will take part. The parking lot at the station will be closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Vehicles must be removed from the lot by 2 a.m. Saturday, police said. Rock Road will remain open during the drill. More information from NJ Transit was expected later this week, police also said.

Simulated Plane Crash Exercise Set For Saturday At Westchester Airport

Using a salvaged aircraft, a mock-up aircraft, dozens of volunteer victims, and strategically placed debris such as suitcases and airplane parts, the Westchester County Airport and Office of Emergency Management will stage a full-scale emergency drill to test the response to a catastrophic incident on airport grounds.
