Maywood PD: Traffic Stop Of Upstate NY Duo Turns Up Loaded Gun, Pot
A Maywood police officer found a New York State man carrying a loaded gun during a weekend traffic stop, authorities said.
Officer Benjamin Singer stopped a rented 2020 Chevy Malibu for various violations on northbound Route 17 shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, Police Chief Terence Kenny said.
Singer smelled raw pot when he approached the vehicle, Kenny said.
The officer arrested 21-year-old passenger Isaiah Sifontes of Rensselaer, NY after finding him with a .22-caliber revolver with a defaced serial number, the chief said.

Paterson police struck back against drug-related crime in the Silk City, seizing 16,163 heroin folds, 106 bags of cocaine and crack, hundreds of illegal prescription pills and two guns over a three-night stretch.
The big haul was Tuesday’s heroin seizure.

Seven Reputed Gang Members Nabbed By Passaic Police With Guns, Knives, Mayor Says
Passaic police investigating a stabbing robbery outside a local club busted seven purported gang members, seizing several weapons, authorities said.
The group chased two men after an incident outside the Third Street club on Feb. 22, Passaic Mayor Hector Carlos Lora said.
One was stabbed in the abdomen and robbed before going to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle, the mayor said. The other victim escaped, he said.
Passaic detectives identified seven people, then conducted a raid on Friday, Lora said.

A 24-year-old man with warrants out for his arrest was being held in the Hudson County Jail after sexually assaulting a woman in a Hoboken parking garage elevator, said authorities who charged him.
A 23-year-old Hoboken woman told police she was sexually assaulted in the Midtown Garage elevator, on 371 4th St., around 3:15 a.m. Monday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
The suspect, Jeremy Torres Gonzalez, was arrested Wednesday morning at 8:15 a.m., when police found he had open warrants from unrelated incidents, the prosecutor said.

Paterson police seized two loaded handguns – one of them with a defaced serial number – while arresting two men on drug charges Saturday night, authorities said.
Peter Campos, 21, and 34-year-old ex-con Edwin Betancur were being held in the Passaic County Jail following their arrests on Highland Street around 7 p.m., Police Director Jerry Speziale said.
Besides 14 bags of marijuana, one of cocaine and 14 Ecstasy pills, the pair were caught with a SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun and a Bersa Model 83 .380 ACP handgun, along with ammunition for both, Speziale said.
