PA Man, NJ Woman Killed In NY 17 Tractor-Trailer Crash: State Police
A crash between a tractor-trailer and a passenger car killed two people on State Route 17 in Nichols, New York, state police announced on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Frank J. Dempaire, 45, of Reading, Pennsylvania, and Elize Carlos, 45, of Newark, New Jersey, were identified as the victims, according to New York State Police.
The crash happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, when both vehicles were traveling east on State Route 17 and the tractor trailer rear-ended the passenger car, troopers said. Dempaire and Carlos, who were inside the car, died at the scene.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, for parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center said.
Residents in Philadelphia, Trenton, Allentown, Reading, and across North and Central Jersey are impacted, the NWS said.

PA Pair Caught With 14K Fentanyl Pills On Route 287: Prosecutor
A Pennsylvania couple was arrested after police say they were caught transporting 14,000 suspected fentanyl pills with a street value of $420,000 on a North Jersey highway.
Edgar Holguin-Reyes, 30, and Yakayra Reyes, 27, both of Reading, PA, were pulled over around 6:35 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, on Route 287 in Mahwah, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
During the stop, detectives searched the vehicle and found approximately 14,000 suspected fentanyl pills, Musella said. The pills are believed to have a total street value of $420,000.

The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warnings and warned of 60 mph winds across parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania Friday, June 14.
At 4:15 p.m., the NWS issued the warnings for Sussex and Warren counties in New Jersey, and Carbon, Monroe, Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton, in PA.

Teaneck police seized three kilos of cocaine along with three men from Pennsylvania and two from North Carolina during a traffic stop.
