Two men who committed an armed carjacking on Thanksgiving in Newark remains at large, authorities said. At 1:10 p.m., a man parking his vehicle in the 100 block of Sylvan Avenue was approached by a Hispanic man who demanded his vehicle at gunpoint, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. A woman who once made headlines for an alleged COVID scam was carrying a loaded gun -- and owed $17,000 in unpaid tolls -- when Port Authority police stopped her at the New Jersey end of the Holland Tunnel, Daily Voice has learned. Many New Yorkers are miffed at Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont’s proposal to install toll gantries on I-684, which would force some residents to have to pay a toll without traveling to or from the state. Lamont introduced his latest plan for statewide tolls, including one in a remote stretch of I-684 in Greenwich that will force motorists to pay, despite being in the state for only about one mile. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont has introduced his new plan for statewide tolls, including several in Fairfield County. Under the new proposal, tollbooths would be installed on several major highways, interstates, and bridges. Cashless Tolls Coming To GWB, Lincoln & Holland Tunnels In 2021
Getting across the Hudson River is about to get even EZ-er. The Port Authority is set to approve contracts for the construction of cashless tolling equipment at the George Washington Bridge, and Lincoln and Holland tunnels, ABC reports. The new system will likely be up and running in 2021. The tunnels have $60 million budgeted for each with $89 million for the George Washington Bridge. Eighty-eight percent of drivers already use an EZ Pass to pay tolls, Port Authority said. Port Authority introduced cashless tolling to the Bayonne Bridge in 2017, and to Outerbridge Crossing this year.

Outerbridge Crossing Rolling Out Cashless Tolls April 24
The Outerbridge Crossing connecting Staten Island to Perth Amboy will introduce cashless tolls beginning April 24, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced Tuesday. The new tolls will allow those with EZ Pass accounts to pay tolls without stopping their vehicles.
