Thousands of unionized Stop & Shop workers say they will go on strike if the supermarket chain shuts down a massive distribution center. Residents jumped out of windows to escape the fire that has now been revealed to have caused the death of two people, according to officials. A 31-apartment building located at 1305 Acushnet Avenue caught fire at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, according to the New Bedford Fire Department. A pair of New Bedford residents died in a four-car crash after a black Kia Sedona began moving unpredictably and then crashed into three vehicles, officials say. The black Kia was reported to be driving "erratically" while heading north on Route 140 in Freetown around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, according to Massachusetts State Police. A 2-year-old girl who went missing after her mother allegedly stabbed a 61-year-old victim was found with the help of drone technology, according to authorities. The child's mother, 25-year-old Angel-Leah Duarte, was reported for stabbing by a neighbor when the bloody victim of Duarte's crime showed up at their door around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, Freetown police said.
