These Westchester Cities, Towns Among Top 10 Safest In NY, New Report Says
If you're looking for peace of mind in New York, the Hudson Valley might be the place to be.
According to a new report by Safewise, several communities in the region were ranked among the 10 safest cities in the state for 2025 based on FBI crime data.
The list includes:

Men Kidnapped Teen Met On Social Media In Capital Region, Police Say
Two New York men are facing kidnapping charges after picking up a teen they met on social media without permission, police said.
David Hadsell and Mario Sierra, both 20, were arrested on Tuesday, May 6, following an investigation by New York State Police.
Troopers in Montgomery County were called at around 9 p.m. Monday, May 5, for a report of a missing teenager in the town of Root, police said.
The teen had connected with Sierra on social media and was picked up that evening by both Sierra and Hadsell—without the knowledge or permission of the child’s guardian, according to police.

NY Man Found Safe After Missing For More Than A Week, Police Say
Update:
New York State Police announced that a 78-year-old man was found safe after he hadn't been seen in more than a week.
Theodore Sikora, a resident of Davenport in Delaware County, was located, State Police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
"Troopers searched his home and the area surrounding it, local stores, hospitals and with relatives and friends," police said. "Thanks to the public for any assistance and tips you gave us!"

Members of the community have raised thousands of dollars for the wife of a former longtime Connecticut resident who died unexpectedly at age 30.
A GoFundMe created for Megan Harris, the wife of the late Michael Freilich, has received $4,534 of its $10,000 goal as of Tuesday, Dec. 21.
Freilich, who grew up in West Hartford and later moved to Oneonta, New York, died in his sleep on Friday, Dec. 17, according to his obituary.
