Fires, Property Damage Spark Huge Recall Of Popular Kitchenware More than 86,000 insulated bowls are being recalled after dozens overheated or caught fire in microwaves. HSN issued the recall for about 86,040 Kitchen HQ Thermal Insulated Bowls with detachable hinged lids, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, June 11. Metal springs in the bowls' detachable hinged lids can catch fire when used in the microwave. According to CPSC, HSN has received 30 reports of the insulated bowls smoking, sparking, melting, or catching fire when microwaved. One incident resulted in a fire that caused property damage.
