A small fire at a popular Cecil County pub won’t keep the doors closed for long. Sweeney’s Pub on Conowingo Road in Conowingo, suffered minor damage after a blaze broke out in an exterior trash can Friday morning, temporarily pausing operations at the beloved restaurant and bar, according to investigators. The fire, which began around 8 a.m. on Dec. 20, was quickly controlled by the Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company. A family-owned Italian restaurant and pub in the region is closing after less than a year in business. Albany County eatery Joe’s Township Tavern, located in Knox at 1412 Township Road, closed on Saturday, Sept. 30, the company announced on Facebook.
