A New York City man visiting Shelter Island with his family has died after going for a morning swim, police said.
Spencer M. Korwin, 38, of Manhattan, was found dead Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 2 under a dock in Shelter Island Sound near Crescent Beach, the Shelter Island Police Department said.
Korwin was last seen alive around 8 a.m. Wednesday, when he left the same dock for his swim, police said. Korwin was staying at a hotel on the island with his family, authorities said.

A Long Island man was high on cocaine and marijuana when he killed an elderly woman in a car crash earlier this year, authorities said Thursday, Sept. 3.
Niall Duignan, 24, of Oceanside, was indicted Thursday on nine charges in the crash that killed Patricia Pfaus, 78, in Oceanside, the Nassau County District Attorney’s office said.
Cops initially said Pfaus was seriously injured in the collision at Weidner Avenue and Long Beach Road on Thursday, June 18, but she has since died from her injuries, according to the DA’s office and an obituary from Torres Funeral Home.
