Zachary Schettone, 39, of King of Prussia, was arrested in connection with an indecent assault of a minor, according to the release.

Schettone, a current teacher at Gulph Elementary School in Upper Merion Township, came under investigation in late 2025 after allegations of prior inappropriate contact were reported to police.

The victim, who had been a student in Schettone’s third-grade class, told investigators that Schettone had the child sit on his lap during class, where he allegedly touched the student in an indecent manner, police said.

The investigation began after the victim came forward, prompting contact with the Upper Merion Area School District administration to ensure student safety, according to authorities.

Schettone was immediately placed on leave by the school district in August 2025 and has not returned to work since the investigation began, police said.

With approval from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Schettone has been charged with:

  • Misdemeanor Indecent Assault Without Consent.
  • Misdemeanor Indecent Assault Of A Person Under 13.
  • Misdemeanor Corruption Of Minors.
  • Summary Harassment By Physical Contact.

Upper Merion police are asking anyone with information about this case to contact the department at 610-265-3232 and request to speak with a detective.
