The Westport Young Woman's League (WYWL) recognized its members and introduced its new board of directors at its annual meeting at the Boathouse Restaurant in Westport.
The following women were inducted to serve on the WYWL board for one year: Madeline Monde, President; Kristin LaFleur, Vice President of Membership; Lynne Openshaw, Internal Communications; Meg Himes, Treasurer; Donna Adelglass, Recording Secretary; Candace Banks, Ways & Means; Michele Lieberson, Community Service; Lauren LoFrisco, Public Relations; Cynthia Bernard, Long Range Planning; Dot Baliban, CraftWestport; Marita Driscoll, Sponsor Development; Elizabeth Juviler, Past President; Cath Lloyd, CraftWestport Co-Chair; Brandi Briggs, Ways & Means Co-Chair; Tina Meehan, Membership Activities Chair; Irene Penny, General Administration Chair; and Pam Tice, Parliamentarian.
"I am looking forward to working with this dynamic group of women," said Madeline, the incoming WYWL President. "Many of our newer members who've joined the League in just the past year or two are now taking on leadership roles. We share their enthusiasm and welcome their new ideas."
The WYWL is a non-profit philanthropic organization of women committed to promoting a sense of community through volunteerism, social activities and fund-raising for local charities. Membership is open to women who are residents of Westport and between the ages of 21 and 50. Some activities in which WYWL members are involved include the Minute Man Race, CraftWestport, cooking for the Community Kitchen (formerly the Gillespie Center) and performing Kids on the Block puppet shows for local elementary school students.
