Wilton Y Offers Preschool Program in June

Does the thought of your preschooler running around the house for a couple of weeks with nothing to do put you in a panic? No need to worry.

The Wilton Family YMCA is offering a special pre-summer program for children ages 3 ½ to 5 called Fun in The Sun during the weeks of June 6 and June 13. The program runs Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes games, crafts, swimming and other outdoor activities. Preschoolers can be enrolled for the full week or on a daily basis. They must be toilet trained to participate.

"Fun in the Sun is an ideal bridge program for children whose nursery school year has ended and summer camp has not yet begun," said Kim Murphy, the Y's director of child-care and day-care programs. "This is meant to be an outdoor program and a stepping stone toward summer camp that accommodates the needs of parents by allowing them to bring their children and pay on a day-to-day basis."

Murphy said the program has been restructured this year to allow parents to choose their own schedules. "We have found that some people need the program every day, but others want just some days of the week," Murphy said. "By allowing parents to bring their children every day, or just some days, makes it ideal for everyone individual needs."

Daily fees are $45 for Y members, $55 for non-members. Registration can be made online at www.wiltonymca.org. For more information, contact Kim Murphy at 203-762-8384, Ext. 214, or emailing her at [email protected].
