With freezing rain and sleet pelting Wilton throughout the day on Wednesday, ice is accumulating on the roadways making travel difficult. Many places in town have closed or changed their schedules because of the poor driving conditions.
Wilton Public Schools are closed Wednesday, Feb. 2. This is the sixth day that the public schools have closed due to the weather.
The Wilton Family Y is planning to open at noon Wednesday but encourages residents to check with the Y before heading out.
Wednesdays storm has closed the Wilton Library. It plans to open at its regular time of 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Wiltons Town Hall is opening on a two-hour delay Wednesday.
The Wilton Transfer Station is closed Wednesday because of the ice storm. The Department of Public Works is planning to open the transfer station Thursday for regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wilton DPW and Connecticut Department of Transportation officials are plowing and sanding streets, however people should stay off the roads if possible, the towns website reports.
Connecticut Light & Power is reporting 51 customers in town without power as of 11:30 a.m.
