Wilton Restaurant Worker Charged in Theft

A Wilton restaurant worker has been arrested and charged with using a credit card left behind by a diner. Police said a senior citizen dined at The Mediterranean Grill and forgot his credit card, which had $2,500 of fraudulent charges applied to it, Wilton Police said.

The suspect was arrested last week after a police officer obtained information about an AT&T cell phone purchased with the credit card. The officer went to The Mediterranean Grill, saw a man working there who had been seen on surveillance footage at the phone store and asked to see his cell phone. The police officer dialed the number of the  phone and the suspect's phone rang.

The suspect was taken into custody for possession of the phone, which was considered stolen property. Other charges are pending.
