After the Memorial Day Parade, everyone is invited to come cheer at an exhibition soccer event in commemoration of Nick Madaras, Wilton resident and soccer enthusiast, who was killed in Iraq in 2006. This is the fourth annual match between the Wilton Ancient Warriors, a competitive statewide over-40 league, YES Coaching (Youth Elite Soccer Coaches) and Wilton Blue, which includes Nicks old soccer teammates.
Mondays lineup of Ancient Warriors will consist of Wilton residents Andrea Galimi, Hossein Sadeghi, Andrew Copley, Anastasios Savvaides, Kevan Quantock, Andrew Allers, Mike Freilich, Nick Slater, William OHerron, Thomas Mark Isaacs, Paul DeFelice, Andrew Hoffmann, Michael Schneidman, Tom Parsons, Slawomir Przybysz, and Scott Venderwall. The event organizers are Andrew Allers, Andrew Hoffmann, Avi Dubnov and Tom Thresher.
Carole Allers is in charge of the referee crew, all of whom donate their time to officiate the match. She is assisted by Richard Sell and Tracey Dean. Dominick Bruni, owner of Tavern on 7, will donate the food.
Attendees are encouraged to bring soccer balls to donate to kick for Nick, www.kickfornick.org. The match will be held Memorial Day on the Kristine Lilly Field at Wilton High School at 11:30 a.m. For more information, email [email protected].
Peter Saverine, author and former Wilton resident, gave an authors talk at the recent May meeting of Wiltons chapter of P.E.O. International. Sue Wall, P.E.O. International recording secretary, was fortunate to have Saverine sign her copy of his childrens book, "A Little Mouse Music." Its prom season! The Wilton High School Junior Prom, organized by committee chairs Devon Brameier, Simon Brewer, and Claire Whitin, will be held Friday, May 27, at The Waters Edge in Darien. Planning the final details for the Senior Prom are co-chairs Jackie Saltarelli and Kelsey Brown. The Senior Prom is scheduled for Saturday, June 4, at the Hilton Stamford Hotel.
