Lisa Bogan has always been active in Wilton, saying she gives back because it makes her feel like a part of the community. Bogan was among the volunteers honored Thursday at the Wilton Chamber of Commerces event called I Love Wilton.
I love volunteering in Wilton, Bogan said at the event, You know people have your back. She sees the volunteer work every spring with the Wilton Little League, where Bogan serves as league administrator. Even in tough financial times, she said many parents still volunteer to help run the league and said the program is as strong as ever.
People still want that wonderful Little League experience for their children, she said. Bogan represented the Wilton Alliance for a Healthier Community as well as the Little League on Thursday night. She served on the Board of Directors at the Wilton Family Y for 12 years, but she recently stepped down and has helped with other youth organizations as well.
The chamber held I Love Wilton to acknowledge all of the groups that give back to the town and help Wilton maintain its quality of life. About 50 organizations were honored Thursday. Chamber President Ralph Slater said many people at the event are involved with multiple groups just as Bogan is. Youll see people are involved in three or four groups, Slater said during the presentation of the certificates.
First Selectman Bill Brennan expressed his appreciation for all of the groups and the part they play in town. Its what makes Wilton so good, Brennan said of the volunteers.
