FISHKILL, N.Y. -- William Kingman Minkowski, of Fishkill, died on on Friday, April 1. He was 74.
Born in New York City, Minkowski was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for New York Telephone as a foreman prior to retirement. He enjoyed collecting movies, various themed mugs and Elk articles.
Minkowski was a charter member of the Wappingers Elks Lodge 2609, where he was instrumental in building the current lodge, on Route 376. He was past state vice president of the New York State Elks, past state trustee and past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 445, and he served as a third-degree knight.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children Martin Minkowski of Redlands, California, Alison Richards and her husband Jerome of Pleasant Valley, and Brian Minkowski of Fishkill; grandchildren Jerome, Amira and Amari Richards; brother Philip Minkowski and his wife Lynn of Wautoma, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Minkowski was predeceased by his parents, William and Florence Page Minkowski; sister Ann Fricker; and stepmother Mitzi Minkowski.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St., in Fishkill. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
