William Johnson, 58, of no fixed address, encountered the victim behind businesses at a property on Cumberland Parkway in Upper Allen Township before the confrontation escalated around 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, according to Upper Allen Township police.
Johnson exchanged words with the victim before arming himself with two large kitchen knives and pursuing the victim several hundred feet across the property while making threats, police said.
Officers had been dispatched to the business center parking lot for an active assault involving a weapon and detained Johnson when they arrived, according to the department. He was later taken to a local hospital.
Police obtained a warrant following their investigation, and Johnson turned himself in at a later date.
Johnson was charged with terroristic threats, possessing instruments of crime, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment, police said.
Following a preliminary arraignment, Johnson was taken to Cumberland County Central Booking for processing and commitment.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 13.
