The two 10th-grade students have been selected for the 13th annual “Students Inside Albany” program, and will spend April 14 through April 17 in the state capital learning how their state government works, according to a press release by the League of Women Voters of New York State Education Foundation.
They will be among 60 students from around the state taking part in hands-on activities, including interactive lectures and shadowing their representatives. These activities are designed to give students the information and resources necessary to meet their civic duties in a representative government.
The local League of Women Voters chapters selected students in their areas for this competitive program based on their interests, goals and leadership abilities. The White Plains chapter selected these two students for the active role they have played in their respective communities, and will cover all costs associated with their trip.
