WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. The number of people without power in White Plains has dwindled from 3,746 customers connected to 891 accounts Monday evening to 135 accounts Wednesday afternoon, according to Karen Pasquale, senior advisor to Mayor Thomas Roach.
However, Pasquale said in an email that restoration efforts may continue to be delayed, particularly to single home outages, because the noreaster storm caused so much damage Westchester-wide.
City Hall is still engaged in cleanup efforts with Consolidated Edison, and suggests that residents in need of assistance call the mayors office at (914) 422-1411.
Con Edison is distributing dry ice until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Midway Shopping Center in Yonkers, the IBM building in Armonk, and BJs in Yorktown Heights.
In the meantime, White Plains will be sending extra department of public works trucks around the city to help residents get rid of extra brush until Nov. 11.
The city advises residents who wish to have twigs and branches picked up to bundle up debris or place it in a neat pile near the curb. The city cannot accept branches or other debris longer than four feet in length or larger than three inches in diameter.
Low hanging branches or other hazards can be reported to the department of public works during business hours at (914) 422-1206. The department can be reached during weekends and evening hours at (914) 422-1233.
