White Plains Common Council Work Session Canceled

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The White Plains Common Council work session scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday has been canceled, according to the city.

"Unlike the regular meetings of the Common Council, work sessions are not required," said Karen Pasquale of the Mayor's office. "They are held as a means of facilitating discussion around items/issues that the council needs to consider and are held only when needed."

The next regular meeting of the Common Council is Sept. 4. At that time a public hearing will be held on the proposed Sunrise Detox Center, which has drawn opposition from the Carhart neighborhood association.

On Sept. 4 the Common Council will also open another hearing on the environmental impact of allowing retail and residential redevelopment of struggling office parks along the southern side of Mamaroneck Avenue and the western side of Westchester Avenue.
