Whims Brewing at 302 White Horse Pike in Atco announced it is shutting down in a lengthy Facebook post.

"Whims has always been a deeply personal thing," owner and brewmaster Dorien Saunders said. "A constant in my family’s life for the last 5 years. Ever changing, evolving, shifting, and growing.  The way I want to run Whims isn’t currently feasible. There is also no way to continue it in a way now that I would find meaningful and would satisfy me. So long story short is we’ll be winding this operation down at the end of the year."

While Saunders did not give an  end date, he said it would be by the end of the year.

"I am beyond privileged to start and end something on my own terms," Saunders said.

Sanders thanked his family, staff and customers.

"I am beyond grateful for any amount of time you chose to spend in our space," Saunders said. "There is a large contingent of you that have become great friends over the years. Have I used the word blessed yet? Because I think its one of the most appropriate words to describe how I feel receiving your support running this business and knowing our friendship will continue past it."

The brewery opened in 2022, taking the place of the shuttered Atco Brewing.

Customers expressed their admiration for Saunders in the comments.

"Glad you are going out on your own terms," one customer wrote. "Huge sign of strength to know when to call it."

"Best of luck in all your future endeavors and hope you enjoy and cherish the time with your family Dorian," another patron wrote. "You will truly be missed."

I’m filled with sadness but excited for you and your family as you engage in new pursuits," another customer wrote. "You always made everyone feel so comfortable, as though they were family."
