RIDGEFIELD, Conn. Colonial Day, the return of a farmer's market and boy watching while selling baked good were some of the things on people's minds Friday afternoon in Ridgefield.
Simon Tierney, who moved to Ridgefield from Australia a year ago, said he plans to head over to the Colonial Day celebration tomorrow, but isn't too sure what it is.
Lots of friends are coming over and we're going to that, he said. I'm trying to get to know the town better.
Tierney said that although he likes the town, his favorite corner pub is now closed.
Izzy Marinucci, a high school student from South Salem, N.Y., was hosting a Relay for Life bake sale on Main Street. She said that Friday night is John Jay High School's senior prom and that Adam Broderick Salon and Spa is the most popular place for girls to get their hair done before the big night.
Marinucci also said that checking out the opposite sex as they walk by is something that's on her mind.
Boy watching is a thing to do, she said.
Cory Claus, a past employee of Ross' Bread on Danbury Road, said he wants to see more dog-friendly events because Ridgefield is a very dog-friendly town. He said a Halloween parade for local kids and pets would be nice, adding that Ridgefield residents go all out for Halloween.
Claus also said there was a farmer's market last summer and that he wishes it had returned for another year.
Ridgefield deserves a first-class farmer's market, he said.
