What To Do In Danbury This Weekend

DANBURY, Conn. – An area performance by "America’s Funniest Mom," a concert by Big Sean and a carnival to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project are among the highlights of events planned for this weekend in and around Danbury. Friday, Sept. 28

High School Football: Danbury High School Hatters Play the Bridgeport Central High School Hilltoppers: 7 p.m. Bridgeport Central High School, Bridgeport.

America’s Funniest Mom Coming To Palace Danbury: 6 p.m. Comedy from Andrea Mezvinsky-Kolb, whom Oprah crowned “America’s Funniest Mom.” Also, vendors will be showcased throughout the evening. Merchandise will include jewelry, clothing, shoes, accessories, cosmetics, food, home and garden goods. Tickets are $15. The Palace Danbury Theatre, 165 Main St.

Big Sean Concert: 6:30 p.m. Must be 16 years or older to attend. Tickets will be $39; $33 for WCSU students with valid I.D. Feldman Arena, O'Neill Center, WCSU Westside Campus, 43 Lake Ave. Ext., Danbury.

Harvest Dinner At Tarrywile Mansion: 7-11 p.m. The dinner will be prepared by Christopher Angione's Carriage House Events & Catering. All proceeds will benefit the Tarrywile Park & Mansion. Carnival To Benefit The Wounded Warrior Project: The carnival to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project features live music, a meet-and-greet with veterans, carnival games, inflatables, a volleyball competition and all-you-can-eat barbecue. Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for children under 12 and free for WCSU students with valid ID. Lawn of the Science Building, WCSU Midtown Campus, 181 White St., Danbury.

Sunday, Sept. 30

Danbury Animal Welfare Society’s Walk For Animals: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $25. Proceeds will benefit the Danbury Animal Welfare Society. In addition to the non-competitive walk, the event also will feature $20 microchipping. Route 6, 67-69 Stony Hill Road, Bethel.

Chamber Music By The Cypress Ensemble: 4 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of instrumental and vocal music featuring Swedish pianist Lucia Negro, Robin Ideström and the Cypress Ensemble. Suggested donation $10. Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, 207 Main St., Ridgefield.
