Westport's population has grown by 642 people over the past decade. Back in 2000, there were 25,749 people in Westport. By 2010, data released from the U.S. Census Bureau on Wednesday shows there were 26,391 people living in town that's an increase of 2.49 percent.
Although whites made up the majority of the town's population at 24,429, that number has decreased 0.30 percent since 2000.
The Asian population, on the other hand, has more than doubled from 625 to 1,047. Similarly, the Hispanic/Latino population grew by 54.82 percent, from 602 to 932.
The African-American population saw the smallest increase from 292 to 305. And the number of people who identified as two or more races jumped from 329 to 610.
