WESTPORT, Conn. ? Traditionally, the end of summer is a sad time for everyone, but this year the kids could not wait to get back to school. Meanwhile, friends and neighbors rallied together to prepare for Hurricane Irene. Some folks remained calm and played football at the PAL jamboree before the rains began. Whats a little water to the hardy 6th grade football team? Westport residents are strong and resilient, they endure storms and clean up together and then enjoy some post-Irene cocktails at the beach. Skip Wasserman and his co-workers, Marita Driscoll, Chris Ladd and Cheryl Pyszkowski, relax on a remarkably clean Fairfield beach! The community joined forces to clean up and make sure that all was safe and ready for back to school. Christina Meehan waited out the storm, eager to begin 1st grade at Kings Highway Elementary School. Even without power she was able to pick the perfect outfit for her big day! Best of luck to all the students finishing up your first week of school!
