Westport Neighbors Notes

WESTPORT, Conn. -- This summer, 27 young musicians from Westport will attend the New England Music Camp on Lake Messalonskee in Sidney, Maine. The program has been praised for its balanced program of intensive music study integrated with traditional social and recreational camp activities. Adam Petno, Olivia Kapell, Jackson Ullman, Jason Lustbader, Freddy Hertan, Nica Wardell, Charles Sonnenclar, Owen Petno, Ian Hubbell, Rebecca Zlatkin, Sarah Dublin, Cooper Boardman, Anna Violette and Sophia Vega are a few of the talented young adults who will study with a world-renowned faculty each morning and then enjoy the fun of just being kids during the afternoons. This year marks the camp's 75th anniversary and among the special events, students will have the opportunity of performing with alumnus Giora Schmidt, a protege of violinist Itzhak Perlman. While some kids are performing others are singing their own tunes on the beach or just hanging out and having fun. French exchange student Lucie enjoyed a barbecue on Compo Beach with her new American friends, Carly, Gia, Caroline and Stella. Lucie is visiting for two weeks with the Lenihan family and then Carly Lenihan will visit with Lucie’s family outside of Paris. This is all possible through the United Airlines Pilot exchange program.
