A very big thank-you goes out to local artist Miggs Burroughs for all of his volunteer work in our community. Once again, Miggs judged the Westport Young Womens League Minute Man childrens art contest. Congratulations to Anna Bunger and Matthew Fleming, the winners of this years contest! Best of luck to Ian Hubbell and the other teens involved with Builders Without Borders. They all left for Ecuador on Friday, April 15, as their proud parents watched them board the bus. Hats off to Suzanne and David Kalb, co-presidents of SLOBs (the Service League of Boys at Staples High School). They have organized a donation drive for Japan called Operation Tomadachi (friend in Japanese). Please drop donations off at 88 Compo Road S. To read a story on this topic which ran earlier, click on Westport Group Holds Donation Drive for Japan. Staples High School freshman Teen PeaceWorks members Sarah Raking, Michelle Gurevich, Erin Gandelman and Olivia Kelly sold T-shirts and collected donations for the Domestic Violence Crisis Center at the Westport Playhouse last week.
