WESTPORT, Conn. Despite the heat Monday afternoon, landscapers from The LaurelRock Co. in Wilton planted a variety perennials at the soon-to-be Gateway Gardens in downtown Westport.
Work on the gardens, located on the east side of the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge on Post Road East, began last week. Landscape Designer Brian Westermeyer said the gardens should be completed by the end of day Friday.
"We're right on schedule," said Westermeyer. "The gardens will be ready just in time for the opening of the [Downtown Merchants Association] Fine Arts Festival on Saturday."
