WESTPORT, Conn. An SUV parked in the Imperial Avenue commuter lot Thursday was wrapped with bright yellow "caution" tape. No, it did not pose a risk to public safety. Instead, judging by a sign affixed to the vehicle's right side, the Mercury Mountaineer was parked where it wasn't supposed to be.
Every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Westport Farmers' Market takes over the lot. The sign posted to the SUV said: "Our friend here needs a reminder not to park in the market. Donate $.50 to WMF [Westport Famers' Market] and you can leave a note asking him not to nicely." The message was followed by a smiley face.
About 10 sticky notes with handwritten messages were also left on the car. Some promoted buying locally grown food and others read messages such as "You need to move it, move it," "We all make mistakes sometimes," and "I wouldn't park in a farm, would you? Move your car please."
