Westhill senior Dillin Smith keeps getting faster. Unfortunately, so does his competition.
Smith finished fourth Monday in the 100 meters at the State Open track and field championships at Willowbrook Park. Smith ran 11.08 in the finals, faster than when he won the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship. He also beat his preliminary time, which was 11.17. But Smith still could not catch Bulkeley's Donarth Thompson, who ran 10.86 to win the race. Danbury's Dele Owoye, who Smith beat in the FCIAC race, was second in 10.96.
Smith also finished eighth in the 200. The Vikings added a ninth in the 4 x 4100 relay.
