Two meetings slated for tonight, Jan. 27, have been canceled: The Board of Representatives' Joint Education/Fiscal committees, scheduled for 6 p.m.; and the Board of Representatives' Public Health & Safety Committee meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m.

Mother Nature has spoken, and theres not much anyone can do about it, except adjust.
Schools have done that by being closed Thursday, Jan. 27.
The city has done that by canceling all recycling and garbage collection for Thursday. The Thursday collection will occur Friday, Jan. 28, and the Friday collection will be done Saturday. The city of Stamford also maintains its snow emergency, declared by Mayor Michael Pavia. It has been in effect since 3 p.m. Wednesday.
While Wednesdays snow wallop has subsided and Thursday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures just above the freezing mark, the National Weather Service predicts a strong chance for yet more snow Friday and Saturday. Theres a 40 percent chance of precipitation for each day. Sunday, however, will probably be sunny with no precipitation. At least thats what the National Weather Service is predicting now.
