A Level 1 Water Emergency has been issued for Mt Kisco. Water Emergencies are decided by comparing the water level of Byram Lake, which supplies all of Mt Kisco's drinking water, taken each Monday to the average level of the lake over the past 10 years.
A Level 1 Water Emergency is issued when the current standing of the lake is above the 10-year average.
MountKisco.org lists the restrictions that a Level 1 Water Emergency causes as the following:
(a) No person shall serve water to a customer in a restaurant except on the specific request of such customer. It shall be the responsibility of the owner of the restaurant to ensure compliance with this restriction.
(b) No person shall use water to clean a driveway or sidewalk.
(c) No person shall use water at the exterior of an odd-numbered property on an even-numbered day. No person shall use water at the exterior of an even-numbered property on an odd-numbered day. For purposes of this provision, a property having no number will be considered to be an odd-numbered property.
(d) No person shall water a lawn or garden except between the hours of 7:00 am and 9:00 am and between the hours of 7:00 pm
Violations of these regulations could result in fines between $250 and $1,000 or 15 days in jail, according to the website.
