Alex Bartlett, of Wappingers Falls, died unexpectedly, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched Monday, May 11, to support his husband, Vincent Cuccia. More information about his death was not immediately available.
The fundraiser, organized by Julianne Fenton, describes Bartlett as "a pillar in the Broadway theatre community, a phenomenal knitter, and a garden expert" whose “kindness, generosity, and sense of humor touched so many lives.”
Bartlett worked extensively in Broadway wardrobe departments, including serving as wardrobe supervisor for productions such as Heart of Rock and Roll, Left on Tenth, and Gutenberg! The Musical, according to his social media profiles.
Outside the theater world, Bartlett was known as the designer and co-owner of Planet Pepper, a New York-based drag wardrobe and performance apparel company famous for its “Astrobooty” hip and butt padding designs popular in drag performance circles.
According to the fundraiser, Bartlett deeply loved his husband, Vincent, and their two rescue dogs, Buddy and Blake.
"In the wake of Alex's passing, his husband Vincent is facing significant financial challenges," the fundraiser reads, adding that donations will help cover funeral and memorial costs while supporting Vincent during the aftermath of the sudden loss.
