The Wilton Wahoos swim team, which competes out of the Wilton YMCA, won the 2011 Connecticut Senior Open Championships, taking top honors in the men's, women's and combined team categories.
Stephen Holmquist took home the men's distance high point award and Ariel Bond (Oxford) was the women's distance high point winner in the championships, held earlier this month at Wesleyan University.
It was a meet full of Wahoo highlights, including 13 new Y-National cuts and three new Junior National qualifying times. Robby Harder made Junior Nationals in the 1,650 free and 200 back, and Greenwich's Eric Ronda qualified in the 100 breast.
New Canaan's Christian Higgins set a state and Wahoo team record in the 100 breast, while Holmquist broke his own Wahoo record set earlier this year in the 13-14 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:32.81. His previous record was a 16:45.04. The Wahoos also won eight out of 10 relays.

In the men's open category, Stephen Holmquist placed third in the 1,000 free, fourth in both the 400 IM and 1,650 free, both with a Y-National Cuts, and 12th in the 200 fly and 500 free.
In the women's open category, Morgan Scarth placed second in the 400 IM (Y-Nat cut), seventh in the 1,000 free, eighth in the 1,650 free (Y-Nat cut), 10th in the 200 back (Y-Nat cut), 11th in the 500 free and 15th in the 200 breast (Y-Nat Cut). Sophie Hornby placed fourth in the 1,000 free, 10th in the 1,650 free and 200 breast and 12th in the 200 IM. Meg Lattimer had a strong finish to place third in the 200 breast, 11th in the 400 IM, and 15th in the 1,000 free. Caroline O'Brien placed sixth in the 200 fly, ninth in the 100 fly and 15th in the 50 free, all with Y-National cut times. Stephanie Moriarty finished 13th in the 100 back, with a Y-National cut, and 14th in the 100 fly. Kristen Moss swam to a 15th place finish in the 100 back with a Y-National cut time.
