Wagner stood with residents and union members at the 54 Main St., headquarters on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and pledged his commitment and support to make infrastructure improvements in Putnam County a priority.

“When I decided to run, one of the first things I did was ask Town of Southeast Councilwoman Lynne Eckardt to serve as a co-chair of my campaign. Southeast, Patterson, and Carmel are a vital part of the 40th Senate District and for too long, there hasn’t been enough investment here in the kind of infrastructure that helps communities and businesses thrive,” said Wagner.

“Just today, while I was driving to this very press conference, a road closure caused by a crumbling bridge forced me to take a detour that actually diverted me around the heart of Brewster's downtown business district,” he continued.

“That's just awful, and I know it's strangling hardworking small business owners here. When a crumbling bridge starts strangling a local business the whole community suffers and government has failed.”

Wagner also said he will dedicate his time to making sure Putnam County areas that do not have access to high-speed internet and cable service will receive those services by expanding modern fiber-optic lines into Putnam County communities.

“Expanding and maintaining high-quality fiber-optic internet and cable infrastructure would also create good-paying, middle-class Hudson Valley jobs, making this a win-win,” concluded Wagner.
