Violent Crimes In Newburgh Becoming Less Common

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Violent crimes in the City of Newburgh is on pace to be far less common in 2017 than in previous years, according to the Times Herald-Record.

Violent crimes like aggravated assaults, murders, rapes and robberies have dipped 13.7 percent through the end of June versus 2016. Violent crimes involving weapons is down 39.3 percent, the Record said. 

There were 170 violent crimes within the City through the end of June, a pace that would end the year well behind the five-year average of 465 reported violent crimes, the Record reported.
