Ursuline's Mitchell Throws Softball Perfect Game

NEW ROCHELLE. N.Y. – Brittany Mitchell’s season became perfect on Thursday.  The New Rochelle Ursuline junior threw a perfect game in a 12-0 win over rival White Plains in a Section 1 high school softball game.

Mitchell finished with 11 strikeouts to record her fourth shutout of the season. She also finished with two hits and two runs scored. Ursuline, now 6-1, broke open the game with a 10-run fifth inning.

“Brittany pitched a great game today,” Ursuline coach John Pirone said. “She was composed throughout the game, as she always is. Her pitches were working great and she was hitting all of her spots.

“She had 11 strikeouts and the defense played great behind her for the other 10 outs. Jamie Carfora made a great play at third base in the top of the seventh inning to keep the perfect game alive.”

Joie Luiso and Liz O’Toole each had two hits and a RBI. Lauren Filardi doubled in a run and scored twice
